TORONTO—A large crowd gathered at Toronto’s Carlu to celebrate the best in magazine design and writing on Friday.

Maisonneuve won best magazine cover for its food issue |
Gold winners in the design categories are as follows:
Report on Business art director Domenic Macri and photographer Jesse Boles won gold in the Words and Pictures category for War Gains.
Photographer Robyn Cumming was awarded gold for her portrait of Miss Canadiana in The Walrus.
Photographer Peter Schafrick won for Still-Life Photography for his work in enRoute.
More art director Faith Cochran took home gold in Art Direction for a Single Magazine Article.
Leif Parsons was awarded gold in Spot Illustration for The Walrus. Best illustration also went to The Walrus for Sam Weber’s piece in “God’s Slow Death.”
Wendell Phillips won best Photojournalism and Photo Essay in Vancouver Magazine’s “The Doctor is Out” issue.
Best magazine cover went to Anna Minzhulina of Montreal’s Maisonneuve.
And best art direction for an entire issue was awarded to Toronto editorial designer Malcolm Brown for his work on the second issue of new Edmonton-based business title, Unlimited.
