CARLSTADT, N.J.—Colour authority Pantone has released its Fashion Color Report for spring 2009 during New York Fashion Week. According to the report, blue and purple are the leading colours for ’09. Its list of top 10 shades also includes a range of greens. 

These were philosophical choices for Pantone based on “New York's fashion designers [who] encourage hopeful attitudes with lively colors, while sophisticated, grounded hues address the need for stability in times of economic uncertainty,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, in a released statement.  

The top 10 spring '09 colours are:
