Build colour palettes on your iPhone or iPod Touch

ALPHARETTA, Ga.—Neenah Paper has launched a free iPhone and iPod Touch application that allows designers to build colour palettes using photos taken on the iPhone’s camera or from a predetermined colour swatch. Once a colour has been selected, the application, called Think Ink, allows users to select from various palettes such as subdued, pop, traditional and blended.

What’s in it for Neenah Paper? The app lets designers test their palette on a variety of Neenah papers and save and order coordinating samples from the company. Neenah manufactures premium and specialty papers.

The app also offers explanations on “the psychological meanings” of colour combinations, using the Dewey Color System.

“We wanted to give designers and printers the ability to pull inspiration from a variety of resources, whether it’s a vibrant green found on a blade of grass or a pale shade of yellow, and create a perfect colour palette for their project,” says Tom Wright, senior director of advertising and design for Neenah Paper, in a release.
