10four rebuilds image for troubled condo development

VANCOUVER—For eight months, 560 people who had pre-purchased units in the Infinity condo development in Surrey, B.C., were left in flux, unsure of whether the five-building, 36-story complex they’d put money down on would ever be completed. A victim of the credit crunch, developer Jung Developments filed for bankruptcy protection in October following the collapse of U.S. firm Lehman Bros., Jung’s partner in the $350 million project.

This May, after months of receivership hearings, Vancouver-based Concord Pacific took over the project. To renew the faith of those already invested and to attract new buyers, the developer contacted local agency 10four Design Group to completely rebrand the complex.

Concord Pacific had already come up with a new name for the development (Park Place) but left everything else — from the logo design, to the look of the floor plans, to the presentation centre — in the hands of Sue Lepard and Matt Heximer, the duo behind 10four.

The goal was to “wipe away all the dead wood,” Heximer says. The materials, created by 10four under a tight two-and-a-half week deadline, highlight the area benefits of Park Place, including proximity to the King George SkyTrain station and a nearby shopping centre.

“We were trying to keep it fairly contemporary and modern but not super high-end,” Heximer says. “It’s geared toward first-time buyers.”

Concord Pacific has been a client of 10four for several years, though in the past the design firm has mostly handled its corporate communications. This is 10four's first full-scale rebranding project for the developer. Contact: www.10fourdesign.com
