NUARS winners announced
TORONTO—At a gala celebration last night at Sassafraz in Toronto, Unisource handed out awards for its sixth annual NUARS competition. The National Unisource Annual and Corporate Report Show recognizes the best ARs, self-promos and corporate brochures printed on Unisource papers.
Entries were judged on: design excellence; communications strategy; use of photography, illustration and typography; quality of printing; and appropriateness of paper.
Up Inc, Soapbox Design, Somerset Printing and Flash Reproductions were all multiple award winners at last night's event.
Best of Show awards went to HM&E Design Communications of Toronto in the annual report category for its Canadian Cancer Society project. Vangool Design & Typography in Calgary won Best in Show for its Uppercase Directory corporate brochure.
NUARS's panel of judges included designers from across the country: Pamela Lee of SamataMason in Vancouver, Zahra Al-Harazi of Foundry Creative in Calgary, Diane Blahey of Tom Powell Design Studio in Winnipeg, Carey George of Up Inc. in Toronto and Vincent Martel of Cirque du Soleil in Montreal.
