Creatives on the move
In Toronto, graphic designer Mustafa Al-Qinneh has joined digital design agency Jet Cooper.

Al-Qinneh had been working at Clear Space Design & Communications since graduating from the York/Sheridan design program in 2008.

Calgary-based Wax Partnership has made three new hires. Brad Connell and Brian Allen have been hired as art directors. Connell most recently worked at Taxi Calgary and Allen has “done the rounds of all the shops in town and luckily has settled down with Wax.”  Designer Mike Rinaldi has also joined the team. He recently graduated from York University in Toronto.

Is there a particular reason the move of a 24 year old junior designer is the lead of this story over the far bigger and more established guns in the second paragraph making moves?

Editor, if you're doing a favour for a designer friend it's looking painfully obvious that it is a favour and really putting your credibility in question. I know you won't allow this post to go public, but maybe you should rethink this piece for your own sake.

Sometimes news is just news, sometimes design and marketing firms do make new employee announcements, so clients or potential clients are aware of what is happening with agencies it can generate new business if those clients prefer dealing with a specific designer or account person. I don't think there is a conspiracy here.

I gotta agree with the person above. First off the 24 year old moved from one bad design studio to another...who really cares. Secondly, why is there a picture of him...he is a nobody.

I find it odd to be referred to as a 'far bigger established gun'. Brian Allen's stats: Cannes Lions: 0, One Show Pencils: 0, Marketing Awards: 0, Ad Rodeo Anvils: 0 (one merit). All I'm saying is that I'm not a much bigger deal than a junior designer. I appreciate the compliment though.

I'm glad you didn't have a picture of me. You should totally have one of Brian though, that dude is a sexy bitch.

We invite all designers to send us their new job announcements and head shots. We don't impose age limits or experience requirements, the section is called "Creatives on the Move."

A nobody is always a nobody until he is a somebody. Guess he broke that barrier today. Congrats!

I am not sure about this as a long-term business venture. I can't see anyone wanting to put up giant...
