March has been an eventful month for DDB Canada. The ad agency, with offices in Vancouver, Edmonton and Toronto has announced a new COO, director of social media and won work for the Canadian Football League’s B.C. Lions.

David Leonard has returned to DDB Canada as Chief Operating Officer.

David Leonard has been promoted to COO of DDB Canada, a position that has been vacant for the last two years since Rob Whittle left after almost three decades with the firm. Leonard will now manage operations at all three of the agency’s offices.
Leonard joined the agency in 1994 when it was known as Palmer Jarvis. In 2001 he left to be president and CEO of Arnold Worldwide in Toronto. In 2005 he returned to DBB as head of the Toronto office until this promotion.

Ed Lee fills a new position at the Toronto office as director of social media. He will lead the Radar DDB service, which offers clients specific marketing strategies for social media. Lee comes from Veritas Communications’ com.motion social media wing, where he was managing director for about a year. He is also behind a popular marketing and social media blog, edlee.ca. He will start work immediately on clients like Subaru Canada and the Canadian Cancer Society.
Also this month, DDB’s Vancouver office announced that it will be working with the Canadian Football League’s B.C. Lions to provide strategic counsel, branding, advertising and communications expertise to help the team attract fans for the upcoming 2010 season. Contact: Ddbcanada.com
