Veer introduces new typefaces

CALGARY–Veer, a Calgary-based provider of stock photos, illustrations and typefaces, is offering up additions to its collections and the introduction of new individual types.

“The popularity of unique typefaces continues to soar as designers look for creative ways to make content stand-out – whether in print or on the information-heavy worldwide web,” says Joe Newton, product manager of type for Veer in a press release.  “Our latest typefaces, such as FaceType and Dunwhich Type founders, will offer our customers a broader range of truly specialized fonts to choose from.”

Veer’s TypeTogether family of fonts for editorial and corporate use has been expanded by four: Etica, Rue, Edita small and Skolar.  Etica is a sans serif and shares elements of the grotesque and the humanist styles. While Edita small is designed to work in a range of smaller sizes.

The Umbrella collection, stylish display faces handpicked from around the world, has joined with the Facetype Foundry, a typographic design firm. Nine new type families have been added, such as Brownstone, a monoline sans-serif inspired by the brownstone buildings in Brooklyn, N.Y.  It received a Certificate of Excellence at the biennial Tipos Latinos 2010 exhibition in Uruguay.

The Alphabet collection, a nod to 20th century American pop culture, pairs up with Alphabet Soup typography designers for a vintage look.

Dunwich Type founders have three new fonts – Black Monday, Downturn, and Recovery – for the TypeTrust collection.
